Why use Age Calculator

  • Breaks your age into exact years, months, and days -- not a rounded number.
  • Shows total days, weeks, and hours lived, which no standard date picker provides.
  • Custom target date lets you check your age at any point, past or future.
  • Handles February 29 birthdays correctly in non-leap years.

How it works

The calculator subtracts the birth date from the target date using calendar-aware arithmetic rather than simple day counting. It computes the difference in full years by comparing month and day values. If the target month/day has not yet reached the birth month/day, the year count is reduced by one. The remaining months are calculated similarly, rolling into the next year if needed. Leftover days are counted within the partial month. Total days lived are computed separately by converting both dates to milliseconds since the Unix epoch and dividing by 86,400,000. Weeks and hours derive from the day count. The birthday countdown finds the next occurrence of the birth month/day after today and returns the day difference. All logic accounts for varying month lengths (28-31 days) and leap years.

About this tool

Need your exact age in years, months, and days? Pick your date of birth and this calculator breaks it down immediately -- plus total days, weeks, and hours lived, and a countdown to your next birthday. You can also set a custom target date to find out how old you were (or will be) on any specific date. Visa applications, school enrollment forms, and insurance paperwork all ask for your age as of a particular date, and getting it wrong can delay processing. The math is more involved than a simple subtraction. Calendar-aware arithmetic counts full years first, then remaining months, then leftover days within the partial month. Varying month lengths and leap years are handled correctly -- if you were born on February 29, the birthday countdown falls back to February 28 in non-leap years.

How to use Age Calculator

  1. Pick your birth date. Select your date of birth from the date picker.
  2. Set a target date (optional). Leave it on today, or change it to any past or future date -- handy for visa or enrollment deadlines.
  3. Read the breakdown. Your age appears in years, months, and days, with totals for days, weeks, and hours lived, plus a next-birthday countdown.

Use cases

  • Filling out a school enrollment form that asks for your child's age as of September 1 -- set the target date and copy the exact years-and-months figure.
  • Applying for a visa with a minimum age requirement? Set the target to your departure date and confirm you qualify before submitting paperwork.
